Small Business Saturday boosts local business

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - It was the annual Small Business Saturday, and shop owners in Conway were looking forward to that boom in business.

Larry Rogers owns the EM Jeans retail store on Chestnut Avenue in Conway.
Rogers explained, in his experience of having his own store for more than 30 years, the concept of investing locally is definitely on the rise.

On a good Saturday he would have more than 200 customers walk through his doors. He explained it
s about creating an experience for the customers and building a relationship.

"It's just something that I fell in love with," said Rogers. "I like talking to people and getting to know each other. I just talked to a guy a while ago, that he's the first basemen at UCA."

The Chamber of Commerce passed out 'Shop Small' bags on Saturday, November 28, and Rogers went on to say that he thinks it really helps spread the word to shop local.

"People that talk about shop small, it kind of clicks in their brain, 'oh it is shop small,' and it makes people want to go out and kind of see what the little small stores have."
