LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Bill Sadler with Arkansas State Police joined us on THV 11 This Morning via telephone for an update on the dangers winter weather is presenting for the state.

Sadler also shared details on a fatal accident that occurred in the late afternoon on Christmas Day in Faulkner County near Mount Vernon.

Investigators say a car lost control on Highway 36 near Mt. Vernon and ran into a Tahoe. A 1-year-old and a 2-year-old in the car died.

According to their great-grandmother, both parents are in critical condition. The report from the Arkansas State Police website shows the toddlers were not wearing safety belts, however, family members say otherwise.

We talked with ASP spokesperson Bill Sadler who said that it is preliminary and those reports have possible mistakes. For instance, Sadler points out that the same report shows four drivers, however, there are only two vehicles involved.

The two in the Tahoe did get hurt, but a relative tells THV 11 News they will be okay.

Sadler recommends to simply not drive in these winter weather conditions, but if someone must, he advises to leave home an hour to an hour and half earlier than they normally would and to only drive as fast as 15-20 miles per hour.
