Ozone alert issued for 4 central Arkansas counties

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An ozone action advisory has been issued for four central Arkansas counties.

Metroplan, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and the Arkansas Department of Health say Tuesday's ozone forecast is orange, which means that outdoor activities may be unsafe for some sensitive groups.

The alert is in place for Faulkner, Lonoke, Pulaski and Saline counties.

Active children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor exertion, as should people suffering from respiratory diseases. Officials say symptoms of ozone exposure may include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, headaches, nausea and eye and throat irritation.
