LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – On Sunday, the University of Central Arkansas hosted the Amigo Cup, which is a soccer tournament aimed at getting more Latinos into universities.
The competition is the only one of its kind in the state.
The idea is to promote cultural exchange, and to connect the Latino community with educational opportunities available at UCA.
Coordinator Manny Sepulveda says the event also helps bring awareness to different cultures.
"As an institution, when you have a diverse population, it really helps us prepare for a global economy, and a global world. So that you know other people have other cultures, other language, and other ways of thinking, and so this really helps all of our students to understand the world as it really is," added Sepulveda.
