Conway police boosting numbers to protect holiday shoppers

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Conway has grown a lot in the last few years. With that growth means more shoppers during the holiday season. But it also means that more people with sticky fingers could be coming to Conway to target those shoppers.

That's where the Shop Secure campaign comes in. Along with the department's regular patrols, four officers will actually walk the streets and in the shops around the Commons, Towne Center, and downtown.

The hope is that the business owners and the shoppers will feel a little bit safer, and those who would like to take advantage of you would think twice about it if they see officers walking in those areas," says LaTresha Woodruff with the Conway Police Department.

Those officers will work those overtime shifts from Thursday until December 27th.

The Conway Police Department is reminding everyone to lock valuables in the trunk before heading into a store. They also urge you to park in well-lit areas and keep your car locked.
