Student says she was stun-gunned, raped at Hendrix off-campus apartment

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Conway police are investigating the rape of a 21-year-old student who said men broke into her apartment and subdued her with a stun gun.

According to Latresha Woodruff, the incident reportedly happened in an apartment at 1605 Clifton St. early Thursday morning. The address matches that of Huntington Apartments, a complex listed on Hendrix College's website under Residence Life.

The student told police that it was three unknown men who broke into her apartment, and raped her after using a stun gun to subdue her. She also said they stole her TV before leaving the apartment.

In response to the incident, Hendrix College released this statement:

Hendrix College is grateful to the Conway Police Department for its swift response to this incident, and we will continue to assist the department in its investigation.

This is a very serious incident, and our primary concerns are for the victim and for the ongoing safety of the Hendrix community.

We have increased public safety patrols of campus and are evaluating additional security measures for College.

Our Dean of Students and Public Safety Chief held a student forum on campus today to discuss concerns and answer questions about this incident

We have offered to relocate any student in the College apartment complex where the incident occurred, and we have offered counseling services through our Chaplain's Office.

While we cannot comment on details of an ongoing investigation, we will continue to share updates on this incident as they are available.
