Dancing Christmas lights on Tony Circle | News
CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Driving around town looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights a holiday tradition for some, and while several displays are pretty extravagant, there are a few in Central Arkansas that go way over the top.
Christmas lights were dancing like sugar plums all over Tony Circle. Six years ago one man with a very fitting name wanted to brighten up his neighborhood. Meet Tony Brighter.
"We're kinda known for our elaborate Halloween and Christmas displays anyway, so when I took the next step and went computerized, the neighbors weren't really surprised. They actually came to me and asked, 'Hey, what would it take for us to join you?'" said Brighter.
Now, six houses with more than 85,000 lights dance every night and by the count of candy canes he distributes, Brighter said he expects 10,000 spectators to pass through this year.
"The show itself is free. We encourage everybody to come out and enjoy it, but if you're here and in your heart you feel you want to contribute, we do take up donations for Make a Child Smile of Central Arkansas," said Brighter.
While Brighter hopes the hundreds of donations will bring hundreds of smiles, it's his lights that are spreading the Christmas cheer.
"The new people, you always know they're new just by their reaction when they first tune into the radio and turn on the street. It's a reaction you'll never forget," said Brighter.
You can find Tony's Circle by heading west on Dave Ward Drive in Conway from I-40. Turn left onto South Donaghey Avenue, then right on Sugar Creek Drive. At the end of the road, turn left on Clarence Drive and then a quick right on to Grummer Lane. Tony Circle will be on the right.
