LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Extras are needed for a film shoot in LR on Saturday, January 25th, beginning at 10am. This will be for the movie teaser trailer for the Romantic Comedy WITH YOU, and we are in need of as many people as possible. This will be a non-paying role. Information is below:

WHERE: Junction Bridge over Arkansas River on the LR side (the one behind the Rivermarket- the old railroad bridge)

WHEN: Saturday, January 25th beginning at 10am (expected to be completed by noon, at the latest)

WHAT: Teaser Trailer/Promotional Video for Feature Film WITH YOU. Extras will be walking as pedestrians on the bridge, primarily as couples. ALL REAL LIFE COUPLES ARE WELCOME. Those individuals coming out will be paired up with a partner to walk with on the bridge.

UNDATED (COA) – Cause of Action (CoA), a government accountability organization, filed a lawsuit today against the Department of Labor (DOL) on behalf of Rhea Lana, Inc. and Rhea Lana’s Franchise Systems, Inc. (jointly, “Rhea Lana’s”), a national children’s consignment event company, over the DOL’s attempt to ban volunteers at for-profit enterprises.  Should the DOL’s actions stand it could cripple not only Rhea Lana’s but also the entire consignment industry on which millions of Americans rely.

SBA seeks nominations for Arkansas Small Business Person of the Year,  Small Business Champions

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (SBA) The U.S. Small Business Administration Arkansas District Office is seeking successful and inspiring entrepreneurs to represent Arkansas during SBA’s 2014 Small Business Week.  Nominations are due January 17, 2014.

“This is the time to honor an outstanding entrepreneur in your area.  Small business owners are so important to the strength of our country, and these awards provide an opportunity to celebrate their success,” said Yolanda Garcia Olivarez, SBA Regional Administrator.  Olivarez heads Region VI which serves more than 3.3 million entrepreneurs in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.  “Each day these men and women overcome obstacles with creativity and perseverance, and help create jobs for themselves and others.”

Conway Police gear up for the start of the Holiday Shopping Season

CONWAY, Ark. (CPD) - Officers with the Conway Police Department will be out in full force this Holiday Season so that you can Shop Secure.  The City Council has allocated $50,000 to have four officers work overtime from November 28, 2013 to around December 28, 2013.  Along with regular patrols all over town, two officers will focus specifically on the Commons shopping center, one will work the Towne Center and new this year the department will have an officer specifically patrolling the downtown area. 

“With Conway becoming an increasingly more popular shopping destination, we expect to see more people than ever this holiday season,” said Chief AJ Gary with the Conway Police Department.  “We believe more police presence in the high traffic areas will make people feel safer.”

CONWAY, Ark. (Conway Regional) - Dazzle Daze 2013 will offer shoppers from all over Central Arkansas a chance to fill their holiday shopping lists on Nov. 21 through the 23 at the Conway Expo Center. The Expo Center is located at 2505 E. Oak St/Hwy64E in Conway.

Almost 90 merchants are expected this year offering shoppers such merchandise as jewelry, gourmet food, décor, clothing, toys, artwork, and numerous other holiday gift items.

Dazzle Daze will begin with “Girls’ Nite Out,” Thursday, Nov.  21, 6-9 pm. Girls’ Nite Out will feature:                                                                     

Sykes Morrilton raises over $2,000 for American Heart Association

Sykes Morrilton raises over $2,000 for American Heart Association

MORRILTON, Ark. (Sykes) -  Sykes Morrilton has been participating in raising money for the American Heart Association.  The overall goal that was given to the site by Sykes Corporate office was $1,800. 

The acting site director Mr Rob Woodruff advised the employees at the site that if they met and exceeded this goal he would spend 24 hours on the roof in a tutu and hair bow.  He stated that the new goal would be $2,500. 

Our employees went above and beyond and raised around $2,515 for this great cause.  Mr. Woodruff went up on the roof today at 2:30pm and will stay until tomorrow at 2:30 pm. 

We are very proud of our employees that always step up to the plate for a good cause.

Free adult digital literacy classes scheduled across 26 counties

Free adult digital literacy classes scheduled across 26 counties

LITTLE ROCK, Ark (ACCG) – Connect Arkansas, a project of Arkansas Capital Corporation, today announced that more than 80 free adult digital literacy classes will be held at libraries across 26 Arkansas counties.

The Adult Digital Literacy Program provides digital literacy training on a wide range of computer and technology topics ranging from Internet safety and security to setting up an email address. In addition to answering questions about computers and the Internet, there are also specific courses offered such as "Setting up an Email Account," "Computer Basics," "Computer Basics 2," "How to Use Your Email Account Effectively," and "An Introduction to Tablet Computers."

Classes are currently scheduled for the following counties: Boone, Bradley, Chicot, Clark, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Faulkner, Grant, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Miller, Monroe, Nevada, Newton, Pike, Poinsett, Pope, Searcy, and Woodruff.
