CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Conway 9th grader has been asked to attend the USA Triathlon Junior Elite Men's Camp at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center.

Bryan Pendergraft, 15, is one of 13 athletes, ages 15 to 17, selected nationally to attend the camp. He is a Conway native that has been competing in triathlons for six years.  His 14-year-old brother and 8-year-old sister also compete in triathlons.  This year, the sibling trio competed in triathlons all across the US including, Iowa, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, and Arkansas.

Pendergraft recently competed in a USA Triathlon National Championship where he placed fourth in the nation.  Next year, he will compete nationally in the Junior Elite Division of triathletes.  He will also represent the USA in international competitions.

At the USA Triathlon Junior Elite Men's Camp, Pendergraft will be working with two full-time coaches, as well as two Elite athletes, and present and former Olympians. While at the Olympic Training Center, Bryan will learn about race tactics/psychology, participate in run and swim clinics with personalized video analysis, and various strength and conditioning sessions.

USA Triathlon is covering the cost of the visit as well as providing a travel stipend.
